Your business’ future depends on the actions you take every day. The most essential thing for a business to actually exist are clients. You know that you need to establish a flow of leads coming your way in a consistent way but you feel the insecurities rising the moment you write that email to a prospect and you need to push that send button. Sometimes, even the pressure of an insecure future for your business won’t vanish the procrastination. The contact e-mails pile up and you heavily rely on the most unpredictable and unmeasurable way of communicating what you have to offer; word of mouth.
So why do we hesitate to put our business and ourselves to the clients’ radar? Why impostor syndrome hits hard when we want to say “here I am” and “look, I made this” ? The hard truth is that people who aren’t as gifted or generous as you, are running circles around you, because they are showing up as professionals. And yet too many people with something to offer are holding themselves back.
The success of your business is a byproduct of the right decisions and actions. Not pure luck. Everyone knows that. You need to have the courage and put yourself and your work out there for the world, and your clients, to see.
First, change the story you tell yourself every day. Feel that what you offer is of value to your clients and that you help them immensely by sharing your work and story, your struggle, your hopes and progress. We ‘re afraid of showing our true selves but the truth is that as soon as we start sharing our story, we’ll realise that many others walk the same path, have similar anxieties and insecurities and don’t know exactly what is going to work in the future.
Presenting your work and yourself to the world is an act of courage. People say to themselves that they could have done the same thing as you if they wanted to and probably better. And maybe that’s true. The difference between you and them though is the fact that unless they actually put the work, this statement will remain one more thing they tell themselves to feel better for their incompetence.
Make yourself a favour and have a head start this month. Take your business’ future into your hands. This week visualise your ideal client and gather all the prospects that you would feel thrilled and happy to work with. Make your research and write to them how you could help them solving their problems. How you could provide value to them and their brands. Show them your work and help them see themselves in their ideal future state. Then press that send button. You’re set for a happy and prosperous 2022.
